Overview
Western Australian biotech SeaStock is using native red algae to tackle two global challenges at once — cutting agricultural methane emissions and replacing synthetic additives with natural, high-performance alternatives.
Founded to produce a climate-friendly livestock feed additive, SeaStock has developed a patented, land-based cultivation and extraction process that allows it to create multiple high-value products from the same regenerative production cycle. These include a methane-reducing feed ingredient, a natural red pigment, and bioactive compounds for food, cosmetic and supplements.
From algae innovation to global opportunity
By growing Asparagopsis taxiformis in controlled onshore systems, SeaStock can maximise yields, reduce losses and apply circular-economy principles that use waste CO₂ and repurpose leftover biomass. This approach allows production to move closer to end markets, opening up international opportunities across the agriculture, food, cosmetic and pharmaceutical sectors.
Strategic partnerships, government grants and strong intellectual property have helped establish SeaStock’s commercial foundations. But maintaining momentum through intensive R&D and commercialisation phases required reliable, flexible funding.
Progressing goals with Radium
SeaStock worked with Radium to bring forward its expected R&DTI refund through Radium Advances. This allowed the team to stretch capital, bridge timing gaps between funding sources and keep progressing critical R&D milestones without slowing down or diverting focus to constant capital raising.
The result is a business building R&D finance into its capital stack — reinvesting advances back into innovation to create a compounding effect as the company grows.
SeaStock Chief Financial Officer Tim Whyte says, “Radium Advances are a really valuable tool to manage your cash flow and for strategic financing. It gives you a sense of comfort. Radium is there to provide that level of strategic advice and support when you need it. They have a great product and the team’s very personable and easy to work with.”
